Michael Lee Harris, lovingly known as “Teeter,” passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 48. Born in West Virginia but—by the grace of God—claimed forever by Burke County, he made his home in Connelly Springs, North Carolina, where he built a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and the kind of love that leaves a permanent mark on the people lucky enough to know him.
Teeter was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sandra Harris, whose memory he carried with him every day. He often said he had to love “his boys” enough for both her and himself—and he absolutely did. Those boys, his cherished nephews William Sebastian Power and Liam Nathaniel Power, were the pride of his heart. Now, they have two angels watching over them.
He is survived by his father, Larry Harris, and his sister, Misty Power, who adored him. To Misty, he was not only a brother but a steadfast friend, partner in mischief, and protector.
Teeter’s life was also shaped by the friends who stood beside him through thick and thin. David Branch and all his Burke County buddies shared countless good times with him—especially on Grannie’s porch, where stories got taller, laughter got louder, and memories got sweeter with every passing year. He also leaves behind Liza McLean, who held a special place in his life.
Teeter lived big, loved hard, and never forgot where he came from. He had a way of making people feel welcome, of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones, and of showing up when it mattered. Those who knew him will remember his humor, his heart, and the unmistakable spark that made him Teeter.
While his passing leaves an ache that cannot be measured, the impact of his life will continue to shine through the people who loved him most.
May he rest in peace, held in the arms of his mother once more.
