Nancy Maxine Conner

Nancy Maxine Warlick Conner, 84, of Drexel, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at her home following a short period of declining health.

Maxine was born March 2, 1941 in Burke County to the late Howard Warlick and Verna Queen Warlick. She retired from Alba Waldensian and loved to read, paint, and be in her flower garden. Maxine was a caring and loving mother and wife; and cherished all of her special friendships.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph “Steve” Conner; sons, Kent Conner and Brian Conner and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Sarah Conner, Justin Conner Barnes and husband Channing, Hunter Conner, and Lauren Blasor. Also surviving is her brother, Larry Warlick and wife Sharon; and niece and nephew, Nicole and Shawn.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Burke Memorial Park with Pastor Josh Bruce officiating.

Mrs. Conner will lie in state at Heritage Funeral Service on Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
