Norman E. Huffman, 81, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at Amorem Hospice, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 26, 1944, Norman grew up learning the value of hard work at his grandmother Martha Huffman’s side on her farm—lessons that would shape the man he became.
Norman dedicated 25 years of his life to protecting his community, serving as a police officer and rising to Chief of Police for the Drexel Police Department before retirement. He also served with pride in the National Guard and was a volunteer fireman.
Norman leaves behind his beloved wife, Melva Brinkley Huffman; daughters Jamie Huffman (Svetlana Sedova) and Kristy King; granddaughter Kaela Fox (Zach Fox); grandson Braxton King; and great-granddaughters Lennox Fox and Phoenix Fox. He was preceded in death by his mother, Treva Franklin; his stepfather, Iverson Franklin; and his grandmother, Martha Huffman.
Please join the family for his graveside service that will be held at Burke Memorial Park at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 20th with Brad Browning will be officiating and military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard.
