Oleta Aikens Fulbright, 91, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Autumn Care of Drexel following a period of declining health.

Oleta was born November 6, 1934 in Burke County, a daughter of the late Revels Woodrow and Ola Smith Aikens. She taught for the Burke County public school system for over thirty years. She was a faithful member of High Peak Baptist Church for over fifty-six years. She loved singing in the choir and held many roles in the church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Herman DeLane Fulbright.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael Todd Fulbright of Asheville and a sister, Barbara Oliver (Jimmy) of Morganton.

A private family service will be held at a later date at High Peak Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Medi Home Hospice and Autumn Care of Drexel for the care she received while there.
