Pamela Elizabeth Whisenant, 61, of Valdese, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Mission Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Pamela, or “Yaya,” as she was affectionately known by friends and family, was born October 30, 1964, a daughter of Martha Metcalf and the late Harry Whisenant. She lived her life for her family and was a very devoted grandmother. Her nickname was given to her by her beloved granddaughters. She also loved animals and would happily have taken in every stray if space had permitted.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in passing by a grandmother, Elizabeth Daisy Keaton, and an uncle, Wayne Carpenter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Miranda Ray (Charles); grandchildren, Graclyn Price and Ivie Carroll; great-granddaughter, Wrenleigh; aunt, Frances Carpenter; nephews, Tracy Carpenter (Linda) and Donnie Carpenter (Sara); a best friend who was like a sister, Lora Gantt (Dave); her little puppy, Chapel; and many other friends and family members.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date per Pamela’s wishes.
