Paul Kelly Settlemyre

Mr. Paul Kelly Settlemyre, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Mountain Valley Hospice, following a brief period of illness.

Paul was born on May 29, 1944, in Catawba County to the late Clyde D. Settlemyre and Maggie Branton Settlemyre. He was a retired police officer serving over 10 years locally for Hickory P.D. In his spare time and retirement, he loved to restore old classic cars and bring them back to life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Settlemyre, a sister, Brenda Walker, two brothers, Bill and Dale Gantt, and one-half brother, James Gantt.

Surviving is one daughter, Kelly Brewer and partner Randy Parker of Mt. Airy, and two sons, David Settlemyre and wife Lesia of Taylorsville, and Wesley Settlemyre and wife Mary of Charlotte. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Samantha Settlemyre, Joshua Settlemyre, Jessica Settlemyre and fiancé Jose Santa Maria, Ann Stewart and husband Dylan, Abby Ruch and husband Jack, and Maggie Brewer, one great-grandchild, Deeb Stewart, and a sister, Ann Watkins.

A private gathering will be held by the family at a later date.
