Pinkey Junior Lowman

Pinkey Junior “Sonny” Lowman, 87, of Valdese passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Meadowbrook Health and Rehab following a period of declining health.

Sonny was born July 27, 1938 in Burke County to the late Pinkney Lowman and Callie Crump Lowman. He worked as a welder and loved to go to the mountains and fish when he was able. Sonny was a member of Shoups Grove Baptist Church and a faithful member.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Gibson Lowman; stepsons, Teddy Gurley and Willie Garris; half-brothers, Bobby Lowman, Danny Lowman, and George Lowman; half-sisters, Gladys Colins, Mattie Teague, Deborah Lowman; Cynthia Lowman; stepdaughter, Arney Faye Gibson.

He was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Virginia Ruth Lequire Lowman; sister, Beulah Lowman; half-brothers, Henry Lowman, Adophus Lowman, and Johnny Lowman; half-sister, Annie Mae Lowman; stepsons, Mark Gurley and Morris Radford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brad Browning officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Shoups Grove Baptist Church.
