Mr. Richard Lee Abee, 66, of Valdese, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at his residence.

Richard was born on March 10, 1960, in Burke County to Donald Eugene Abee and the late Betty Jaynes Abee. He was a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church in Gamewell, and was a retired truck driver, working for Old Dominion for over 38 years. He was known by his trucker friends as Hippi.

Surviving in addition to his father, is his beloved wife of 34 years, Susan Epley Abee of the home, and three children; Donald Wayne Abee and wife Stephanie of Valdese, Amanda Ninemire of Valdese and Melissa Tellefsen of Morganton. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Emily, James, Jacob and John, and one great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Daniel Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
