Richard Stephen Brittain

Richard Stephen Brittain, 79, of Morganton, passed away at his residence on Sunday, December 21, 2025 following a period of declining health.

Richard was born November 9, 1946 in Caldwell County to the late Joe Brittain and Martha Everhardt Brittain. He worked as a healthcare technician at J. Iverson Riddle and loved working on small engines; even teaching classes. Richard never met a stranger and loved helping people in any way he could. He was a loving, kind, and outgoing person who was always happy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jody Brittain; and sister, Rebecca Virgilio.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Donna Brittain; nephew, Terry Brawley; two step-daughters; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor David Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 PM to 12:00 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
