Rita Lucienne Hemond

Rita passed away peacefully in her sleep at Carolina Caring Hospice House on August 5th, 2026. Rita was born in Holyoke, MA. in 1936.

She was the 4th child of Romeo and Arthurette (Payeur) Lambert of Canada. In 1959, she married Roger Maurice Hemond of Woonsocket, RI.

Together, they had 5 boys... Charles, Luke, John, Marc, Matthew. In 1968, the family moved from Woonsocket to Baldwin Park, CA. The two youngest

boys were born there. Rita was raised in a Catholic family but in the early 80's, became a born-again Christian and later joined the 7th Day Adventist.

In 1982, the family moved to Lancaster, Ca., where she cleaned houses for Doctors, Lawyers and Judges... She was also involved in music. She played a variety of different musical instruments and also taught piano, organ and the guitar. She ran the Hemond Music Studio from 1985 to 2011. Her favorite was the accordion... She taught Spanish and French for a brief period in the early 90's at the Antelope Valley Christian HS in Quartz Hill, CA. She moved to Hickory, NC in 2012 to be closer to her two youngest sons.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Charles at 16 in 1976 and her husband, Roger at 74 in 2011...She is survived by her sons

Luke 66, John 63, Marc 57, Matthew 55...She was loved by many and will be missed immensely...
