Roger Dale Barrier, born May 5, 1949, peacefully transitioned to Heaven on January 18, 2026 after a period of declining health, surrounded by his loving family at Valor Hospice in Asheville. Roger served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He lived in Morganton, NC, where he was in the car business for over thirty years. He had a generous heart, always helping others. He loved to cut up. Roger got to spend his last few days surrounded by many of his family and friends who love him dearly.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Nancy Barrier; a brother, Hubert Barrier; a sister, Betty Barnette; and a grandson, Schylar Payne.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Gentieu (Greg) and Jennifer Barrier; sons, Matthew Barrier (Brandi) and Mark Barrier (Kristen); grandchildren, Madison Wathen (Alex), Dillon Barrier, Laine Barrier, Lincoln Barrier, Bayleigh Gentieu, Savannah Gentieu, and Tobias Conley; great grandchildren, Solen Payne and Brinkley Wathen; and many other special friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Wesley Hendrix officiating.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Charles George VA Medical Center Valor Hospice.
