Roger Dennis Denton, 68, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Mission Memorial Hospital following a brief period of declining health.

Roger was born September 3, 1957 in Cleveland County to the late John Denton Jr. and Emma Jannette Murray Denton. He loved watching racing and going fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Riley Murray and Vernie Bridges Murray; sister, Jackie Denton Grayson; brother-in-law, Frank Lyon; and sister-in-law, Susan Denton.

He is survived by his significant other, Karen Carswell; daughter, Shasta Denton Madden and husband Nick; sons, Terry Carswell, and Brandon Carswell; and grandchildren, Katie, Maddox, Brandon. Also surviving are sister, Janice Carol Denton Lyon; and brothers, Jerry Denton and wife Sandra, John Butch Denton, and James Mike Denton and wife Tammy.
