Granite Falls

Ronald Earl Thomason, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Granite Falls on August 16th 2025 with his family by his side.

Born in Madison County Tennessee on April 2nd 1949 he attended Jackson State Community College and got an associates of science degree.

Ron married a woman named Joan Peterson on February the 15th 1968. They were each other’s life long companions and best friends. They were blessed with one child named Brian.

Ron worked at Colonel baking company which was bought out by Sara Lee. He started working at 19 years old and worked for 48 years, starting at the very bottom as a bread delivery boy and working his way up to president of the company.

He was a kind soul who always helped people whenever he could. He donated to Saint Jude and the Christian Ministries of Granite Falls. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife Joan, and his sister Glenda. Then his four grandchildren, Josh Rife, Brittany, Greylan, Laura Rios, and his great grandchild AnnaBlake Farris.

He was preceded in death by his Father (Clayton Thomason) early on. Then followed his mother (Janie Rolison Thomason), sister (Brenda Thomason Leach) and son (Brian Christopher Thomason).

Ron will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had a fiery spirit and always brought a laugh or a smile.

He was a prideful man and very proud of everything he accomplished and his family.

A Gathering of Friends will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
