Mrs. Sandra “Sandy” Ann Stamey Carter, 70, of Morganton, went home to her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at her residence.

Sandra was born on March 1, 1956, in Burke County to the late William Buck Stamey and Fannie Johnson Stamey. She was a longtime member of Lakeview Baptist Church, was employed for many years as a seamstress for Alba-Waldensian and retired as a file clerk with Burke County Social Services. Sandra enjoyed going to the beach, working on flowers in her garden, feeding and watching the birds, and gathering the grandchildren. She loved baking cookies and dying Easter eggs on the holidays. She loved Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, the Beach Boys and beach music in general. She never missed her soap opera General Hospital and spoiled her puppies Rocco and Lola. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (Ken) Carter, and by one brother, Larry Stamey.

Surviving are her two sons, Christopher Carter and wife Ashley of Morganton, and Jonathan Carter and wife Kristen of Nebo. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Kaylee, Cooper and Avery Carter, Clara and Caroline Stewart, Jameson Crowder, and Kolter Carter, one sister, Vickie Shuffler, and a nephew, William “Coot” Fowler and wife Laura.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Lakeview Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce Piercy and Rev. Pat. Mourglea officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Lakeview Baptist Church.
