Shirley Aiken Winn

Shirley Aiken Winn, 88, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Monday October 13, 2025, at Amorem, Burke Hospice, after a period of declining health.

Shirley was born September 3, 1937, in Burke County and lived most of her life in the Valdese and Connelly Springs area. She was self-employed as a hairdresser and foster parent for many years and was a member of Connelly Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Shirley had a wonderful attitude toward life, which enabled her to make many friends wherever she went. It’s for sure Shirley is now Shagging on those Golden Streets.

Those left to her memory are her children, Ann Wise (Ed Browning) of Connelly Springs, Janet Hinesley (Ron) of Rutherford College, Dennis Newton of Connelly Springs and brother, Jim Shuffler of Valdese. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, Jamie Abee (Jason), Chelcey Smith, Taylor Caywood (Casey), John Zimmerman (Sabrinia) Tim Browning (Ashley), great-grandchildren, Jaylen Abee (Lexi), Journey Abee, Oaklyn Caywood, Kingston Caywood, Eli Smith, Helena Zimmerman, Amelia Browning, and a special great-great-grandchild, Windslow Abee.

At Shirleys request there will not be a service at this time.
