Stephen Todd Huffman, 60, of Valdese, departed this life to his heavenly home on Friday August 28, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Todd was born on March 16, 1966 in Burke County to Coy Stephen Huffman and Janice Franklin Huffman. He was a devoted man of faith and leaves behind a legacy defined by selflessness and deep devotion to his family. A lifelong resident of Valdese, Todd was a dedicated employee at Saft America for 41 years, where he served as a respected team leader in the cathode department. His work ethic was matched only by his vibrant spirit and commitment to his faith at Drexel Memorial Baptist Church, where he shared his talents as a drummer and singer.
Beyond his work and church life, Todd was a man of many passions. He found his greatest joy in the outdoors, whether he was bass fishing with the Burke Bass Club or out in the field hunting deer, rabbit and dove. He was a true master of the grill and smoker, finding immense pleasure in cooking for those he loved, especially when he could share a meal prepared with the same warmth he inherited from his beloved Nanny Huffman. As a proud member of the band “Mountains of Faith” , he lived a life that served as a testament to his unwavering walk with God. Above all else, Todd was a family man whose heart belonged to his grandchildren. His presence was a steady source of love, and he taught those around him the value of kindness and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit remains in the memories of those he raised and the countless lives he touched with his generous God fearing heart.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife; Jackie Cooper Huffman of the home; his parents, Stephen and Janice Franklin Huffman; his son, Jonathan Huffman and wife Olivia; his daughter, Kaylee Ward and husband Logan; his grandchildren, Ellie Rae Huffman, Lainey Kate Huffman and Barrett Stephen Huffman (due in Jan. 2027), Dash Elijah Ward and Maggie Marie Ward; his brother, Brian Huffman and wife Cherie and niece Payton; his best friend of 50 years Mitchell Cook and wife Beth and God daughter Emily Knight and husband Tyler and kids; his mother-in-law, Brenda Roberts and father-in-law, Mike Cooper and wife Fran.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 1, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Drexel Memorial Baptist Church.
A Funeral Service will follow at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at Drexel Memorial Baptist Church, with Brother Danny Emory officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
