Stewart Beach Benfield, 84, of Connelly Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health.

Stewart was born March 28, 1942 in Rowan County, a son of the late Ray Edgar Benfield and Marjorie Beach. He graduated from Hildebran High School Class of ’60 and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Hickory. He retired from the Pepsi Bottling Company of Hickory after many years of service. He was fond of gardening, fishing, and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife, Romilda Lowman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Alan Benfield and wife Kim; grandson, Parker Benfield; sister, Sarah Benfield; sister-in-law, Marvene Zimmerman; and nephews, Scott Lowman and Matthew Zimmerman.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Catawba Memorial Park at 2 PM.

A Viewing will be held prior to the service on Monday, August 10, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
