Susan Hudson Dzmura, 75, of Valdese, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2026 at AMOREM of Valdese following a period of declining health.

Susan was born June 10, 1950, a daughter of the late Miles and Georgia Hudson. She was a PhD graduate of the University of Rochester in the field of psychology. She worked as a cognitive science lecturer at the University of California Irvine for several years. Susan also co-founded a web design company where she worked for a number of years. Her great passion was always for art, and she was devoted to oil painting, print making, and sculpture.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of forty years, Michael Dzmura; sister, Sharon Pascal (Willie); brother, Miles Hudson; son, Matthew Dzmura (Yulia); daughter, Katherine Friedman (Paul); four grandchildren, Alexander, Magnus, Scarlett, and Clara; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Matt Matthews and Rev. Dr. Rachel Matthews officiating.
