Van Clayton Yancey

Van Clayton Yancey, 71, of Valdese, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday September 2, 2026, at his residence, after a period of declining health.

Mr. Yancey was born June 18, 1955, in Burke County, a son of the late Roy and Virginia Brown Yancey. He was retired from the maintenance department of Case Farms and was a member of the American Legion Post 234 in Valdese.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Cooke Yancey of the home, two sons, Clayton Yancey (Brandy), Ray Teague (Rachel) both of Hickory and a brother, Michael Yancey of Vale. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Bailee Yancey, Clara Teague, Allie Biederman and Mason Biederman.

Funeral Services for Van Clayton Yancey will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday September 6, 2026, at Crosslink Church in Rutherford College, with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Crosslink Church.
