Wayne Posey Maney, 71, of J. Iverson Riddle Development Center, passed away on Thursday March 5, 2026 after a period of declining health.

Wayne was born October 2, 1954, in Swain County, a son of the late Posey Maney, Jr and Marilyn Lindsey Maney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Henry and Beulah W. Lindsey, Grant Posey and Avie L. Maney.

Although Wayne was a special needs child, he was very special to so many. Those left to cherish his memory are sisters: Wanda Maney Honeycutt (Daniel), Donna Maney Martin (Dwight). Also surviving are nieces & nephews, Jennifer Gold (Brandon), Josh Honeycutt (Kendra), Jon Honeycutt, Ashley Martin, Megan Smith (Dustin), Nathan Hege (Rachell) and great nieces and nephews, William Gold, Bailey Honeycutt, Landon Honeycutt, Cade Honeycutt, Temperance Martin, Grayson Hege, and Tyson Smith, aunts, Ethel Berry, Shirley Smawley and uncle, George Tillman Lindsey.

Graveside Services for Wayne Posey Maney will be held Monday March 9, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Freddy Lindsey officiating.
